Plurk-ista Ka Na Ba?
One Thursday evening (I can’t remember the exact date), I changed the channel to QTV-11 to check-out this new technology-lifestyle show that has been on air for a couple of weeks already. The title of the show is Q TUBE, and is being hosted by Andy and Andi on QTV-11 every Thursday at 10pm.On that specific episode, they featured a new online community website, which is Plurk (http://www.plurk.com).If I’m not mistaken, they compared Plurk to Twitter (http://www.twitter.com).The only thing that I know about Twitter is that, it is a website used to share one-liner topics, comments and ideas (or threads) with your officemate anywhere and anytime. For Twitter was created for that purpose initially.One-liner meaning a sentence or two of something a user would want to say or ask. Like “i’m bored” or “what are you doing right now?”. And by posting those said “topics”, it would start a long-run conversation between the author of the thread and other users.Anyways, Plurk seems to be a very interesting online community website. Especially with the gimmicky “Karma points” system, which according to the hosts, adds a fun factor to its users.Karma points are gained when a user posts a new topic/thread, adding new friends and fans, inviting non-users, changing the profile photo etc. And loses Karma points if someone declined your invitation to be your friend or a fan. Worst, if someone blocks you. OUCH!The main goal here in Plurk is to reach Nirvana or the state of enlightenment (according to Hinduism/Buddhism).As to what is the relevance of reaching Nirvana in Plurk in your real life? I really have no idea. So, after seeing that episode, I decided to give Plurk a try.Ok, the website is quite nice. Interface is very straight forward. I figured out how to Plurk right away. Since I know some guys over in Multiply (http://www.multiply.com) who are also Plurk user, I was able to have friends within the first 24hours of being a Plurk user myself. Now, I think after a month of using Plurk, I can say that I’m addicted to it.The Karma points is just a minor factor why I’m drawn to using Plurk. It is more of the engaging interactions between users that makes it such an experience if you are online. So, if I got you interested in Plurk, just click on this linkPLURK http://www.plurk.com.You can also follow my threads there thru this linkhttp://www.plurk.com/thedaytripper

One Thursday evening (I can’t remember the exact date), I changed the channel to QTV-11 to check-out this new technology-lifestyle show that has been on air for a couple of weeks already.

The title of the show is Q TUBE, and is being hosted by Andy and Andi on QTV-11 every Thursday at 10pm.

On that specific episode, they featured a new online community website, which is Plurk (http://www.plurk.com).

If I’m not mistaken, they compared Plurk to Twitter (http://www.twitter.com).

The only thing that I know about Twitter is that, it is a website used to share one-liner topics, comments and ideas (or threads) with your officemate anywhere and anytime. For Twitter was created for that purpose initially.

One-liner meaning a sentence or two of something a user would want to say or ask. Like “i’m bored” or “what are you doing right now?”. And by posting those said “topics”, it would start a long-run conversation between the author of the thread and other users.

Anyways, Plurk seems to be a very interesting online community website. Especially with the gimmicky “Karma points” system, which according to the hosts, adds a fun factor to its users.
